raed yassin is nabil fawzi and bechir remains bechir

i finished finally setting up two new blogs tonight, my mother's one (see last post) and fellow musician/actor/dance raed yassin who is starting a blog to document the war via words + old comics pages and polaroids. here's his address: www.raedyassin.blogspot.com

more and more resistants!

another fellow musician from beirut, bechir saadeh, is pursuing his blog started a while ago with more political content. check at: www.remarkze.blogspot.com/

no drawings tonight. didn;t have time and it's already 5am.
the birds are waking up and everything is strangely calm. this awful calm i always try to describe. the one that you know won't last. and you ask yourself indefinitely: what and when is next?

on the other side of the world, anything i express about your 'current situation' seems trite, glib and empty, but i'm so grateful that you have continued to document, express and process all of this for the world. resistance like this has become powerful and possible through technology and i'm grateful that the simple act of me forwarding a link to your blog to other artists and like-minded people means that perhaps somehow i am joining you in your resistance. your drawings remind me that art still has a purpose, rather than the navel-gasing theory which influences my work. good luck

Hello Mazen,

Yesterday an article in Dutch newspaper about
Libanezen and Israëliërs seek dialogue on the web (page 14)

Translation: about you
The Libanese artist Mazen Kerbaj makes drawings and audio fragments over the bombardments that he on its weblog place. On its website stands titled for instance a sounds composition, Starry Night, that the sound of bombardments on Beirut mixed with trumpet. The sound of sirens and smashing bombs took he on from its balcony. Also makes he black and white drawings over the furious reality of imminent food deficiency and families that from each other fall.

I think the link is this:

I hope this violence will end very soon. I am so sorry you all are going through this. I don't believe that violence will result in peace. Israel is very very wrong in what they are doing.
